We love events where newbies can mix it up with accomplished athletes of all ages – it’s inspiring for both ends of the spectrum. Add beautifully groomed trails through a snow-laden Ponderosa forest, plus a cheerful nordic crowd and some post-ski nosh, and you’ve got the recipe for the Tour de Meissner, a 15k race/tour for either skate or classic skiers. Event starts at 9:30 a.m. but do pre-register and get an early start – these trails are hugely popular on Saturday mornings even without an event, and parking will be a challenge (carpool if possible, and don’t forget your Snow-park pass!)
The Tour de Meissner is sponsored by two excellent nordic skiing organizations who work very hard to make the Meissner trails a premier nordic ski destination: The Tumalo Langlauf Club (AKA TLC/Meissner Nordic) and the Bend Endurance Academy. They describe the Tour de Meissner as a…
“One-day ski festival, featuring food, friends, youth races, a Tour and Race waves for both skate and classic technique. This is an excellent event for first time racers to experience Meissner in a different way. Tour skiers and experienced racers alike will enjoy top-notch hospitality, excellent grooming and a very well run event. Help us support these community ski trails by registering for the race, coming up to volunteer or just cheer on some folks out on the course. ”
